Alteration Class: Take In Adjustments & Hems

This popular class will empower you to begin to alter your own wardrobe to your style. Bring a garment (pair of Pants, Slacks, Jeans, Shirt, Dress or Skirt) and we will teach you to Hem, take in/out, utilizing techniques to achieve custom results. #LetsSew2Gether #AlterThat #Upcycle
In this class, you will learn the following:
• Measuring your inseam & out seam to obtain a custom fit
• Alterations hacks that will save you time & money
• Basic Sewing techniques to achieve original hems
Children are welcome to take the class! However, if a parent sits in with a child taking the class, please register for 2 seats.
What You’ll Need for Class
–Sewing Machine (including any tools that come with your machine)
–Sewing Machine Manual (if you do not have a printed-out copy, please be prepared to bring a downloaded version)
–Thread
–Bobbins for your Machine (try to pre-spin before attending)
–All Pressor Feet that come with your machine
–Universal, Overlock/Serge, Roll Hem and/or Blind Stitch Pressor Foot (only 1 is required per the type of hem that will be performed on your dress, skirt or shirt)
–Machine Needles per your machine; Size 14 & 16 needles
–Sewing Machine Toolbox – (Note: all can be available at The Sewing Station Learning Center Online Boutique or NWSC):
–Chalk or fabric Pens
–Hand Stitch Needles
–Scissors for cutting fabric
–Snippers for cutting threads
–Seam ripper
–Tape measure and/or ruler
–Straight Pins (25)
–Fabrics –
–Student brings in 1 garment to be altered
