This 3-hour class is a must have for sewing knits\, giving a professional finish to all your sewing projects\, and will take the mystery and frustration out of threading and operating a basic serger. It has been stored in a climate-controlled environment and be confirmed to be in working condition. Confirmed working condition means the following: a. Machine has ALWAYS been stored in a climate-controlled environment. It is clean both internally and externally. The cords are in good condition\, not frayed for cracked. You have all of the machine’s parts required for proper machine function. Your manual will have a list of the parts provided with your machine. Use that as a check list. When threaded and run\, the machine will create a thread chain. ***Sergers not meeting the above criteria may be refused at discretion of the instructor upon arrival. Instructor is not responsible for evaluation of serger in need of service. Serger must be fully functional upon arrival.  \n–Needles that are the correct size for your machine. Your manual will indicate the correct size of needle used in your machine. You must have two needles in your machine and at least two spare needles on hand in case of breakage.  \n–Screw drivers or other tools needed for changing needles and adjusting your machine (changing needle plates) if required.  \n–Tweezers\, thread snips or scissors\, and a magnifying class and small flashlight if either is needed for you to see the needle or looper holes on your machine.  \n–Writing materials for taking notes. Your cell phone for taking reference photos or videos during class.  \n–Transparent tape and a very fine tip marker if you want to label your machine for future reference.

DESCRIPTION:In Part 1 you will learn the following (2 ½ hours): \n\n–Overall care; cleaning & maintenance\n–How to thread & thread education\n–Installation & maintenance of needles\n–Bobbin care; how to install pre-wound bobbins; how to wind a bobbin; bobbin education\n–Machine alignment\n–Hooping\, placement & general info on stabilizers\n–How to use the built-in digitized designs\n–Transfer designs from PC to Tabletop Embroidery Machine\n–High level view of digitized software (connections to online digitizers and other network material suppliers)\n–Class Project will be where we transfer embroidery designs and stitch out a design from software \nSuggested pre-request is Basic Sewing 101 or 102 or any basic sewing skills \n \nView the Flyer\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				What You’ll Need for Class\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				–Embroidery Machine w/power cord (you will need to bring your machine onsite)\n–Machine Manual (if you do not have a physical manual\, please bring your downloaded version)\n–Laptop Computer w/power cord\, USB Key & Embroidery Software must be already loaded\n–Embroidery Thread (please bring a variety of embroidery thread colors; we will be practicing lettering & design)\n–Bobbins for your Machine with embroidery bobbin thread\n–USB Thumb drive that will fit your PC and your embroidery machine\n–Marker or Fabric Chalk (we have some onsite if you do not have available)\n–Machine Needle\n–Iron & Ironing Board (you will be utilizing our equipment onsite)\n–Hoop Frames for your machine  \nSewing Machine Toolbox – (Note: Supply Kits are available at The Sewing Station Learning Center Online Boutique):\n–Hand Stitch Needles\n–Scissors for cutting fabric\n–Snippers for cutting threads (specifically embroidery curved Snippers)\n–Seam ripper\n–Tape measure or ruler\n–Straight Pins (25) \nFabrics\n–Any cotton fabrics for testing embroidery (approximately ¼ yard to ½ yard)\n–Light Weight Tear Away Stabilizer\n–Medium Weight Felt Backing Cut Away Stabilizer
