In this class, you will learn the following:

–Sew on buttons using the machine button features, aligning buttons to buttonholes, cross stitch and standard button applications

Part 2 –
–Sew a Cosmetic Pouch/Bag with lining, buttonhole & button closure; pattern layout, cut and sew/assemble Bag/Pouch

–Familiarize yourself with the basic parts & features of a sewing machine
–Set up & threading – what type of thread to use & why
–Top tension & bobbin basics (how to spin a bobbin; how to load the bobbin; what types to purchase for your machine and how to store your bobbins)
–Needle education – why do we use different types
–Straight stitch, zig zag and others found on your machine to practice

Part 2 –
–Review & understand patterns, measurements, how many yards to purchase per product, how to cut & lay out patterns, & read sewing instructions
–Select a Sewing Project to be sewn on Basic Sewing 101-Part2: a Pin Cushion, a Dog Chew Toy or a Coaster); layout, cut & sew project

Always wanted to learn to sew but never found the time? Our 4-session sewing class is perfect for you! As you get to know your sewing machine, you’ll learn and practice basic skills like straight stitches & seams. You’ll gain confidence by creating 4 projects: a tissue holder, pillowcase, and pajama pants. We provide sewing pattern printouts, 1.5 yards of Tru-Grid, and a pack of 3/4” elastic. Plus, get 20% off supplies at our shop or over the phone!

PillowFaces! Workshop benefiting local Austin charity, Capital Area Food Bank.

Join us to learn a new technique in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! You will leave with a unique appliqued pillow cover using just a couple of fat quarters and fabric scraps.

Beverages and light refreshments will be provided – please bring a sack lunch, if desired.

This class takes place April 13th & April 20th.

In this class, you will learn the following:
Part 1 –
–Learn different sizes of zippers (example: #10 jacket zippers verses #5 invisible dress zippers)
–Learn zipper pieces (teeth, tape, stopers) zipper tape patterns and what they mean
–Learn to install two different types of zipper installations (Standard & Invisible zippers) using two different zipper pressor feet

Part 2 –
–Sew a Dog Walking Crossbody Bag with linings, buttonhole, multiple zipper closures and purse hardware
or Crossbody Bag with lining, zipper closures & purse hardware (buttonhole is omitted)
